Donate to the Samuel L. DeLeeuw Civil Engineering Endowment

We would like to thank so many of you who have read the dean’s newsletter and sent your thoughts and comments. Your gracious comments about the Sam DeLeeuw story give us the opportunity to address a major concern. Dr. DeLeeuw has a civil engineering fund in his name, but it has not attained endowment status. (The fund has $10,250, but $25,000 is needed for an endowment.)After 30 years of service to the Ole Miss School of Engineering, Dr. DeLeeuw’s influence still lingers in the halls of Carrier, and we would like to inform you of an opportunity to show your appreciation for him.

You can help us reach an endowment level of $25,000 by donating to the Samuel L. DeLeeuw Civil Engineering Endowment. Please help us honor Dr. DeLeeuw by providing financial support for the Department of Civil Engineering.

As civil engineering chair for 22 years, Dr. DeLeeuw relied on unrestricted funds to pay for such items as field trips, lab equipment, and travel to society meetings and competitions. It is only fitting to honor him by helping the school provide access for students to participate “in the classrooms without a blackboard” just like Dr. DeLeeuw used to do.

If you are interested in contributing, please contact Kevin Gardner at the UM Foundation at kevin@olemiss.edu or 800-340-9542. Checks should be made to the University of Mississippi Foundation, with Samuel L. DeLeeuw Endowment in the memo line. Checks can be mailed to UM Foundation, P.O. Box 249, University, MS 38677. Gifts also can be made online at http://www.umf.olemiss.edu.

Thank you,

Kevin Gardner, development officer for the Ole Miss School of Engineering
