The University of Mississippi has scheduled a media opportunity with
Bobby Seale, co-founder and original chairman of the Black Panther Party,
for 10 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 15) in the South Parlor on the Lyceum's ground
floor. Seale will be available for question-and-answer for about 30
minutes, and one-on-one interviews will be granted on a first-come,
first-served basis until 11 a.m.
Seale is to speak at 6 p.m. in the Gertrude C. Ford Ballroom at The Inn
at Ole Miss. The event is being hosted by UM's NAACP chapter as a part of
its "Know Your History" series. Seale will discuss the history
of the Black Panther Party and relate why he thinks Black Panther-style
activism was appropriate during the 1960s but unnecessary today. The
event is free and open to the public.
To sign up for the media opportunity or for more information, contact
Mitchell Diggs at 662-915-5639 (print) or Mary Stanton at 662-915-5089
