Communications Specialist 

The former director of Alumni Relations at Mississippi Valley State University, Deborah A. Purnell covers the School of Applied Sciences, the Division of University Outreach and Continuing Education, the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts and the departments of Music, Theatre Arts and Art. She is formerly a reporter and classified advertising coordinator for the Greenwood (Miss.) Commonwealth. Purnell, who earned a master’s degree in journalism from The University of Mississippi, is a 1992 graduate of Mississippi Valley State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in print journalism.
