University Museum Invites Families to Come Dig in the Dirt |

OXFORD, Miss. - Families are invited to come have fun in the dirt Oct. 31
at the University of Mississippi Museum.
The museum is hosting a Family Fun Day from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Under the direction
of Jay Johnson, director of the Center for Archaeological Research,
students will participate in a daylong, hands-on archaeological
experience that includes excavating, cleaning, photographing and
reassembling their finds. The program is open to students in grades 3-8,
who must be accompanied by an adult.
Space is
limited to 50 participants. Cost is $15 per person, which includes a
T-shirt and lunch. Payment must accompany registration and be made in
person at the University Museum. No refunds will be given after Monday
(Oct. 26).
The event also includes other activities, including Dig Jr. for children younger
than third grade, that are free and open to the public.
