OXFORD, Miss. - The University of Mississippi Museum is hosting an
exhibit by a talented group of budding artists, all second-graders in the
Insights program at Oxford Elementary School.
The 74 students have each created their own shoebox-size sculpture as a response
to the 10th International Shoebox Sculpture Exhibition, on display at the
museum through December 13. They are being honored with an artist's
reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 27) in the museum.
Theresa Bates and Sally Williams, Insights teachers at Oxford Elementary, planned
the exhibit with Holly Bethune, education curator at the University
Museum. The sculptures are on display during regular museum hours, 9:30
a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays and 1-4:30 p.m. Sundays.
