OXFORD, Miss. - Timothy L. Walsh has been named executive director of alumni affairs at the University of Mississippi. A search committee selected by Chancellor Robert Khayat chose Walsh, who served as interim executive director after Warner Alford retired July 1 from the position.

A member of the Alumni Affairs staff since 1990, Walsh becomes only the fifth director to lead the association. Before 1947, the highest position, alumni secretary, was elected annually.

"I am grateful to Chancellor Khayat and to the members of the search committee for their confidence in me," Walsh said. "I look forward to working with our alumni and friends to strengthen our great university and alumni association."

Walsh previously served as senior associate director of the Ole Miss Alumni Association and associate dean for development for the UM School of Law. He also serves as campaign coordinator for the ongoing $20 million expansion at The Inn at Ole Miss, of which the first of a three-phase project opened in August.

"Tim Walsh is a bright, energetic, capable young man," Khayat said. "He is totally dedicated to Ole Miss, and we are confident he will provide outstanding leadership for our Alumni Association."

A native of Memphis, Walsh graduated from Christian Brothers High School and received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the university.
