OXFORD, Miss. – John P. Bentley, associate professor of pharmacy administration at the University of Mississippi, has been named a fellow of the American Pharmacists Association. He was recognized during the organization's annual meeting last weekend in San Antonio, Texas. A fellow is a member of either the APhA Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management or the APhA Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science, with a minimum of 10 years professional experience. They must demonstrate progressive, exemplary service and achievements in their professional area and through service in APhA academies and other national, state and local professional organizations.
John Bentley
Bentley, also an associate research professor in the UM Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, was named a School of Pharmacy Thelma H. Cerniglia Distinguished Teaching Scholar in 2008 for the second time. During 2007-08, he took a sabbatical while enrolled in a graduate program in biostatistics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His teaching in the professional pharmacy curriculum focuses on the organization, delivery, financing and outcomes of health care, and he teaches applied statistics courses at the graduate level. His research focuses on understanding how medications and the medication consumption experience affect quality of life.
