Media invited to keynote address by economist Randall Kroszner

Media representatives are invited to attend a Friday (Oct. 16) lecture by Randall Kroszner, former Federal Reserve governor and economic adviser to President George W. Bush, at the University of Mississippi. Kroszner, professor of economics at the University of Chicago and a frequent guest on cable network CNBC, plans to discuss the state of the economy during his keynote address of the 2009 Banking and Finance Symposium. The event is in the inn's Ballrooms C and D. Media must arrive by 11 a.m. to set up. The symposium luncheon begins at 11:30, and Kroszner is expected to begin his lecture at noon.  He should finish in about an hour and will be available 10-15 minutes for media questions. Everyone must be out of the room no later than 1:30 p.m. Kroszner served as a governor of the Federal Reserve System from March 2006 until January 2009. During his time as a member of the Federal Reserve Board, he chaired the committee on supervision and regulation of banking institutions and the committee on consumer and community affairs. In these capacities, he took a leading role in developing responses to the financial crisis and in undertaking new initiatives to improve consumer protection and disclosure, including rules related to home mortgages and credit cards.
