OXFORD, Miss. – Noel Wilkin, chair of the pharmacy
administration department and director of the Center for
Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management in the University
of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, has been appointed as
the university’s interim associate provost.

Wilkin is charged with assisting the university’s efforts
in the areas of strategic planning, student retention and
academic affairs.

“We are very pleased Dr. Noel Wilkin has joined us in the
Office of the Provost,” said Morris Stocks, interim
provost. “He brings a wealth of experience as a faculty
member and administrator to this office. He is an
accomplished teacher and researcher and a faithful
servant.”

Since joining the faculty in 1996, Wilkin has earned
acclaim as a teacher, researcher and administrator. In
2004, he was chosen as part of the inaugural class of the
Academic Leadership Fellows Program with the American
Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.

A dynamic teacher, he has won the pharmacy school’s
Pharmaceutical Science Teaching Award three of the past
four years. His research interests focus on decision-making
by patients, pharmaceutical management and marketing, and
helping pharmacists cope with new Medicare and Medicaid
regulations. He also serves on several university,
community and pharmacy school committees.

Wilkin has already assumed the new responsibilities and
will continue to teach and coordinate his research projects
in a transitional capacity through the spring semester.

“I’m very excited about this opportunity and the challenges
it brings,” Wilkin said. “It’s a great chance to learn and
gain a broader appreciation of the overall university and
work to facilitate its programs.”
