Ole Miss Volleyball Adds Six New Faces

Talented Group to Join Rebels in Fall of 2015

OXFORD- Miss. – The Ole Miss Volleyball team has achieved a lot of success under first-year head coach Steven McRoberts, among them, posting the best start in school history and winning 20-matches for the first time since 2007. Looking to continue the upward trend, the Rebels have added six talented players to the program as part of the 2015 signing class that will join the Rebels in the fall of 2015.

Coming from five different states, Caroline Adams, Laina Carnes, Kathryn Cather, Audrey Fischer, Taylor Gill and Alexis Lee are expected to arrive on campus in the summer to begin preparation for the 2015 campaign.

Coach McRoberts on the 2015 Class:
“We’re really excited about our first signing class as we continue to build this program. All six of these players have experienced a lot of winning. They have competed for state championships, earned All-State honors in their respective states in high school and played for high level club teams. Not only are they great players, but they are excellent students.”

Caroline Adams
Caroline Adams is a 5-3 defensive specialist from Lafayette, Louisiana.  She attended St. Thomas More Catholic School and played club volleyball for six years for Cajun Elite and Louisiana Volleyball Club.  Adams was named first team All-District in 2013, second team All-Acadiana in 2013, state runner-up in 2011 and helped her team to the state titles in 2012 and 2013. She was also a part of the Academic All-State Composite Team.  A member of the National Honor Society in 2014, Adams maintained a 4.0 all four years of high school.

Laina Carnes
Laina Carnes is a 5-10 setter from Lexington, South Carolina and Lexington High School. She was an All-State recipient in 2013 and 2014, All-Region in 2013 and 2014, All-Region Player of the Year in 2014, Player of the Year in the Midlands Region in 2013, and Max Preps Player of the Year for Lexington High School in 2013. Carnes was selected for the North-South All-Star game in 2014. A member of the National Honor Society she boasts a cumulative GPA of 4.75.

Kathryn Cather
Kathryn Cather is a 6-2 right-side hitter from Hoover, Alabama and Hoover High School and played club volleyball for the Birmingham Volleyball Club. As team captain, Cather led Hoover to its first appearance in the state finals and finished Runner-up in 7A in 2014. She was named to the All State Tournament Team and the 2014 State AHSAA All-Star North Team. In addition, Cather was named to the All Hoover/South Team in 2012 and 2013 by The Birmingham News. She made the All-Metro Team in 2013 and the 6A State Honorable Mention Team in 2012 and was selected by AL.com for the 7A A-List in 2014.

Audrey Fischer
Audrey Fischer is a 6-1 middle blocker from Chesterfield, Missouri and Nerinx High School and plays club volleyball for the St. Louis High Volleyball Club. She was named first team All-District, first team All-Conference, second team All-Region and Honorable Mention All-State in 2014. Fischer was named to the Bellville East All-Tournament Team, in 2013 as well as first team All-Conference and second team All-District.

Taylor Gill
Taylor Gill is a 5-10 defensive specialist from Madison, Alabama and Madison Academy. She plays club volleyball for the North Alabama Spikers Association (NASA). A four year varsity starter, Gill earned Area MVP honors all four years, was a three-time Team MVP and three-year All-State honoree.  Gill was a part of four Area Championships, three Regional Championships, and two State Runner-Ups.

Alexis Lee
Alexis Lee is a 5-11 outside hitter from Normal, Illinois and University High School.  She plays club volleyball for Illini Elite. She achieved Unanimous First Team All-Conference honors in 2013 and was named 2013 Most Valuable Player at the Moline Invitational. Lee helped her team win the Regional and Sectional Championship in 2011.
