With your help, the University of Mississippi Museum soon could offer free Family Activity Days for three years to the Oxford community. The UM Museum is launching a 30-day Ignite Ole Miss crowdfunding campaign today (April 1), with a campaign goal of raising $6,000.

Family Activity Days are hosted two to three times a semester and are often based on themes from special traveling exhibits at the University Museum. Families enjoy a variety of activities led by museum education interns, along with refreshments.

The program has grown tremendously over the last few years, and more than 800 children participated in Family Activity Days in 2014. The projected cost of offering Family Activity Days free to families is $2,000 per year. Your generosity can help make these family days accessible for many deserving children and families.

The last few Family Activity Days were sponsored by the Children’s Dental Center, and the museum’s vision is to continue offering these events and reach many more families without any cost limitations.

“We want to make sure Family Activity Days are accessible for all families,” said Rebecca Phillips, the museum’s communications coordinator. “In the month of April, we hope families and businesses will donate and support to help us reach our goal and give children in the community a constant creative outlet for years to come.”

Come experience the fun April 18 for the Let’s Move Family Activity Day, running from 10 a.m. to noon and sponsored by Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. Families will explore nature and participate in outdoor activities from the museum to Rowan Oak along the Bailey Woods Trail.

Please consider donating to create lasting memories for families as they travel through time, explore new cultures, make new discoveries on our outdoor trail and create art together at the University Museum.
