Creed Week Offers Community Opportunity to Learn, Get Involved

OXFORD, Miss. – University of Mississippi students, faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in a series of events this week promoting the UM Creed.

Presented by the Associated Student Body, the annual Creed Week features activities designed to unite the campus community. Each tenet stated within the creed is highlighted one day during the week.

“This year’s Creed Week is unique from previous years because we are not only trying to tell people about the Creed, but we are showing them real examples of how the Creed is lived out on campus,” ASB President Morgan Atkins said. “Each day of our Creed Week represents different aspects of the Creed and we have invited different campus organizations and resources that exemplify the UM Creed.

“I hope that participants will have a better understanding of what our Creed is and what the Creed means to our university.”

Unless otherwise indicated, all events will take place in the plaza in front of the Ole Miss Student Union.

Daily highlights and the schedule include:

  • Tuesday (Sept. 7) – Fairness, Civility, Respect and Dignity Day: Meet ASB’s judicial chair, deputy attorney general and senate committee chairs to learn more about how fairness, civility, respect and dignity are embodied on our campus.
  • Meet Your Senator Night 7 p.m. in the Union Ballroom
  • Wednesday (Sept. 8) – Good Stewardship of Resources Day: Join ASB for its first ASB 365 featuring the leadership and engagement ambassadors and get connected with valuable resources.
  • Thursday (Sept. 9) – Personal and Professional Integrity Day: Visit with community resources including MS Votes, Study Abroad and more, to help take the UM Creed beyond campus.
  • Friday (Sept. 10) – Connect with Campus Orgs Day: Get connected with student organizations on campus through a game of Connect 4 and more.
  • Saturday (Sept. 11) – Everybody’s Tent – a game day tailgate from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Grove. Includes free game day buttons, food and ASB merchandise for all students.
