Franklin, Tenn. Resident Elected to Serve as Vice President of UM Associated Student Body

OXFORD, Miss. – Morgan Lyn Gregory of Franklin, TN 37067 is the newly elected vice president of the 2013-2014 Associated Student Body at the University of Mississippi.

A junior integrated marketing communications major in the Meek School of Journalism and New Media, Gregory is a Provost Scholar and a former ASB Cabinet Member of the Month.Winning the recent election is “by far the biggest honor I have achieved so far in life,” she said.

The campus inauguration ceremony for the new officers is scheduled at 2:30 p.m., March 26, on the steps of the historic Lyceum.

Committed to serving others, she has reached out into the community as a volunteer tutor for first-graders. On campus, she has been a mentor to the Freshman Council and counselor for younger students.

“I think it’s very important to make sure everyone feels welcome and knows how they can make the most of their four years, both by example and friendship,” she said.

She said she chose to enroll at Ole Miss “because it offered the perfect combination of academic excellence in my desired field of journalism and SEC sports, in a family-oriented community.

“My classes are very hands-on and make me so excited to think that one day I’ll be able to apply what I’m learning to a job I will get to go to every day,” she said. “Through both my classes and my involvement, I have met so many different kinds of people and am so grateful for the opportunity to learn to work with varying personalities and see how so many people can come together to make something great happen, whether it’s a class project or campus candlelight service.”

A graduate of Centennial High School School in Franklin, she is the daughter of Johnny and Lisa Gregory.
