Meet Teri Gray, November’s Staff Member of the Month

Teri Gray

Teri Gray, administrative secretary II in the School of Applied Sciences, has been named Staff Council’s Staff Member of the Month for November. To help us get to know her better, she answered some questions for Inside Ole Miss.

IOM: How long have you worked at Ole Miss?

Gray: Nine years on Feb. 9, 2020.

IOM: What is your hometown?

Gray: Batesville.

IOM: Talk about your favorite Ole Miss memory.

Gray: When Bo Wallace was the quarterback (of the football team) and Ole Miss defeated Alabama in 2014.

IOM: What do you enjoy most about your position or the department in which you work?

Gray: My co-workers. They are amazing!

IOM: What do you like to do when you are not at work?

Gray: I enjoy working in my yard, exercising and going to the beach. My husband and I are the owners of Batesville Overhead Door for 30 years. I’m also a part-time real estate agent.

IOM: What is one thing on your bucket list?

Gray: Retire … move to the beach!

IOM: What is your favorite movie?

Gray: I don’t watch movies often, but if I were to pick one, it would be “The Green Mile.”

IOM: What is your favorite Ole Miss tradition?

Gray: Home runs at Swayze Field.

IOM: What is a fun fact about you?

Gray: 1. I’ve been onstage with Rod Stewart. 2. Every morning, you will find me at the Martindale Hall feeding station taking care of my three kitty friends: Martin, Missy and Buddy.

IOM: If you could have lunch with anyone, alive or dead/fictional or real, who would it be and why?

Gray: My black Lab. I made a promise to Biscuit that we would spend his last week doing the things he loved the most, like eating ice cream, Starbursts and licking Ring Pops. He passed away too soon. I’d like to have one last lunch with Biscuit.

IOM: What are three words you would use to describe yourself?

Gray: Energetic, hardworking, dependable.

IOM: If you could visit one time or place in world history (past, present, or future), what would it be?

Gray: The past … to visit my pets that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and give them one more hug for their unconditional love.

IOM: If I could be an animal for a day I would be ___

Gray: A cat.
