UM Celebrating Students, Faculty Achievements through Awards Page

OXFORD, Miss. – Despite the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Mississippi is continuing to celebrate the achievements of its students and faculty.

The Office of the Provost has launched an Honors & Awards 2020 Convocation website dedicated to highlighting the accomplishments typically awarded on campus during this time, such as the Elsie M. Hood Outstanding Teacher Award and Taylor Medals.

The website includes a virtual address from last year’s Elsie Hood winner, John Young, as well as a list of designees for the Marcus Elvis Taylor Memorial Medal.

“Despite the disruption caused by the pandemic, we are still committed to celebrating the achievements of our students and faculty,” said Noel E. Wilkin, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs. “The Taylor Medal is the top academic honor that our university awards to undergraduate students, and the work to achieve this honor spans their undergraduate career.

“This disruption does not dampen the significance of this amazing accomplishment.”
