Webinar Series Helps Mississippi Entrepreneurs Develop, Grow

MDA, McLean Institute partner to boost entrepreneurship across state

OXFORD, Miss. – The Mississippi Development Authority launches its spring 2019 series at noon Tuesday (April 16), with “Youth Entrepreneurship” by Elena Bauer, a University of Mississippi law student who leads the McLean Entrepreneurial Leadership Program.

The program is a statewide high school youth leadership initiative, and the webinar will emphasize youth entrepreneurship.

Bauer, from Freiburg, Germany, is a Catalyzing Entrepreneurship and Economic Development, or CEED, Innovation Fellow at the university’s McLean Institute for Public Service and Community Engagement. She has a passion for youth leadership and workforce readiness in Mississippi.

“Participants will learn how Mississippi high school students can have an impact in their own communities and spur economic development in the state,” said J.R. Love II, project manager for CEED at the McLean Institute.

The theme of youth entrepreneurship is aimed to attract a varied audience, including entrepreneurs and those who support them.

“We have a diverse audience that tunes into our webinar series, seeking expert advice on a variety of topics,” said Nash Nunnery, project manager for the Entrepreneur Center at Mississippi Development Authority. “Though the majority of webinar participants are aspiring and existing entrepreneurs, we also are host to folks that work in Main Street Mississippi, chambers of commerce and economic development cooperatives.”

The webinar will originate from the Executive Conference Room at Insight Park on the Ole Miss campus. Bauer’s presentation begins at noon and will conclude at 1 p.m.
