Buie Baccahanalia Event Will Help Expand UM Museum’s Collection

Buie22The Friends of the University of Mississippi Museum invites everyone to an evening of food, wine and revelry at a pre-installation celebration in the museum’s Mary Buie wing for the Buie Bacchanalia on Feb. 20.

The museum is the home of the David M. Robinson Memorial Collection of Greek and Roman antiquities, which includes more than 2,000 items, one of the finest collections of its kind in the nation. However, because of limited space, only 133 pieces have been on display. The reinstallation in the museum’s original wing will allow for an expanded exhibit of the Robinson collection.

The event will feature wine pairings courtesy of Vino Wholesalers and food provided by The Main Event/City Grocery Restaurant Group. Entertainment will be provided by Athenian Dance Troupe.

Tickets are $150 each. Cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner seating at 7:30 p.m. All proceeds will help fund the reinstallation of the Mary Buie wing.

To attend the event, call 662-915-7073 or email museum@olemiss.edu by Feb. 13.
