Day 23: Graduation

29_DAYS-THANKS_2The reason we all choose to attend college is to graduate with the degree of our choice and then pursue a career.

The education students receive at the University of Mississippi is outstanding, and the day we recognize the accomplishments of those students is nothing short of that.

I’ll never forget the day I graduated from Ole Miss. The Meek School of Journalism and New Media was celebrating its first class as a school.

I was lucky enough to walk across the stage to receive my degree at the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts, which is an absolutely stunning venue, and legendary journalist Dan Rather was the guest speaker at the ceremony.

Commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2015, the 162nd class to graduate from Ole Miss, is scheduled for May 9, beginning with convocation in the Grove that morning.

I don’t know what it’s like to graduate from any other university, but I know that graduation day at Ole Miss is perfect and unforgettable.

So on this day, we are thankful for that graduation day, when our future is just beginning.
