Day 25: Location

29_DAYS-THANKS_2The university is tucked away in the wonderful, small town of Oxford, Mississippi.

And we love it.

Oxford was established in hopes of bringing an institution of higher learning to the city. And in 1848, it did. Oxford is known across the country as one of the best small towns to visit.

Known for its food and art, Oxford merges with university culture to create the perfect college-town experience. In fact, many alumni continue to visit Oxford throughout the year. Whether it be for sporting events, the Double Decker Arts Festival, a signing at Square Books or a meal at one of John Currence’s fine restaurants, former students just can’t stay away.

Oxford and Ole Miss are very much part of each other. Many events throughout the year, such as the Homecoming parade and Square Jam, are held in the downtown Oxford Square.

We are thankful that the University of Mississippi is located in a small town so rich in culture.
