MOVE MISSISSIPPI: Ole Miss Promotes Fitness With Kids Club

New Website Includes Kids’ Games, Prizes And Gear

OXFORD, Miss. – In an effort to combat childhood obesity in the state, Ole Miss Athletics is launching “Move Mississippi,” an interactive fitness and nutrition program that is part of the new Rebel Kids Club website, rebelkidsclub.com.

While focusing on children, “Move Mississippi” provides fitness and healthy eating tips for the entire family. Children can see how they stack up against other kids as well as their own family members on the site’s leader board.

Mississippi has the highest rate of childhood obesity in the country. Approximately 40 percent of the state’s children are obese and around 74 percent are deemed unfit.

“The well-being of our state’s children is an issue very close to our hearts,” said Michael Thompson, Senior Associate A.D. “One of the missions of Rebel has been to service our community, and with his growing popularity with our youth, he is the perfect face for this initiative to inspire our kids.”

“Move Mississippi” is just one component of the Rebel Kids Club, which offers a number of benefits and prizes. Members can win tickets to football, basketball and baseball games and participate in the “Walk of Champions” this fall with the football team in an exclusive kids club event.

Members can download coloring pages, desktop backgrounds and puzzles, while official Rebel Kids Club gear is for sale. There is also a calendar of Rebel’s upcoming appearances, and a request form for Rebel to come to your event.
