Jamie Morgan becomes fourth member of 2013 signing class
OXFORD, Miss. – Jamie Morgan, a 5-foot-6 junior college standout at Phoenix College, has signed a national letter of intent to play softball at Ole Miss, head coach Windy Thees announced Tuesday.
Morgan, a third baseman and outfielder from Scottsdale, Ariz., helped lead the Phoenix College Bears to their ninth NJCAA National Championship as a freshman last season. Morgan won the 2012 Scholar Athlete award and was named All-Region. In 2011, as a high school senior, Morgan was named Defensive Player of the Year.
“Jamie is an outstanding addition to our 2013 signing class,” Ole Miss head coach Windy Thees said. “As an incoming junior, Jamie will be coming in with experience playing at the highest level in junior college. She has a great arm and can play both on the dirt and in the outfield. Jamie has tremendous speed and we feel she will be able to step in immediately and make an impact.”
Morgan was a four-year softball letter winner at Horizon High School under head coach Bryan Casey, and played club softball for Outlaws Gold. The daughter of Marnie and John Morgan, Jamie is a psychology major.
