On Sunday, August 24th the Ole Miss Women’s Council scholars held their Fall Retreat at the Ole Miss Depot. It was the hottest day on record but that didn’t stop the twenty-four scholars from running across campus as they participated in a scavenger hunt. The hunt allowed the students to reconnect as they solved clues about important Ole Miss history. The hunt concluded at the Ole Miss Women’s Council Rose Garden.
The scholars welcomed Whitman Smith, Director of Admissions, as he shared the importance of connecting yourself at Ole Miss. He stressed how significant the connections you make now will help you many years down the road. Smith stated that these connections are what makes Ole Miss special.
Later in the afternoon, Kara Giles from Paper Nest Studio offered advice on the importance of giving thanks in the written form. She offered tips on writing the perfect thank you note and shared that it is always appropriate to write a thank you note no matter the occasion.
The retreat was a great beginning to the 2014-2015 school year. The scholars will gather again on Thursday, September 11th at their monthly Red Plate Supper.
