OXFORD, Miss. – Known for putting contemporary Christian music on the map, six-time Grammy Award winner Amy Grant is set to perform Oct. 8 at the University of Mississippi’s Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts.
“We have received many requests to present Amy Grant in the Ford Center and we are pleased to finally be able to bring her here,” said Norm Easterbrook, Ford Center director.
The show is set for 8 p.m. Tickets range from $30 to $50 for various seating. Grant’s performance will feature an acoustic setting with only four or five players.
“You really couldn’t find a better venue for (Grant) with this particular ensemble than the Ford Center,” Easterbrook said. “The seating is so intimate, and the acoustics of the Main Hall will complement her performance in every positive way.”
With hits such as “Baby, Baby” and “Every Heartbeat,” Grant has achieved such breakthroughs as being the first contemporary Christian artist to have a platinum record, the first to hit No. 1 on the pop charts and the first to perform at the Grammy Awards. She has produced three multiplatinum albums, six other platinum albums and four more gold albums; scored 10 Top 40 pop singles and 17 Top 40 adult contemporary tracks as well as a string of contemporary Christian chart-toppers. She has won six Grammy Awards and numerous Dove Awards.
“Amy Grant is a particularly engaging performer and it will be a special treat for Ford Center regulars to see her in an intimate, acoustic setting,” Easterbrook said.
