OXFORD, Miss. – University of Mississippi Chancellor Dan Jones is a featured speaker for a Nov. 17 “Conversation about Community.”
Operation Shoestring’s annual luncheon begins at noon at the Jackson Convention Complex. Other panelists in the discussion are Tony Yarber, mayor of Jackson, and the Rev. Jerry Young, president of the National Baptist Convention. Award-winning journalist Jerry Mitchell will be the moderator. Tickets are $50.
“When the right choices are the hard choices, do our leaders have the courage to tackle the hard issues in the right way?” said Robin Walker, Operation Shoestring communications director. “What is the right way? And who makes that call?”
The three leaders will address questions like these by drawing on their unique experiences and insights, Walker said.
“The choice-making of our leadership is critical to the fate of us all, from the children and families Operation Shoestring serves in the heart of our capital city to the entire state of Mississippi,” Walker said. “That’s why we hope everyone will join us at this year’s ‘Conversation about Community.'”
