Denise Hill, superintendent of landscape services at the University of Mississippi, examines the university’s state champion Northern catalpa tree. Hill recently earned certification as a Certified Arborist.

“Denise devoted a lot time to this outstanding achievement,” said Jeff McManus, UM director of landscape services. “The university will benefit significantly, and Ole Miss will remain one of the prettiest campuses in the South.”

The purpose of the ISA Certification Program is to improve the knowledge level and standard of practice within the tree care profession. It is designed to assist the public in identifying arboriculture professionals who have demonstrated, through a professional education and examination program, a thorough knowledge of tree care practices. All Certified Arborists get a wallet identification card.

The International Society of Arboriculture is a scientific and educational organization devoted to the dissemination of information in the care of preservation of shade and ornamental trees.
