The University of Mississippi has been named one of the healthiest places to work in Mississippi. Don’t you want to join the movement?

The Department of Campus Recreation and RebelWell are making it easy to get involved by offering group fitness classes specifically for faculty and staff. A variety of classes are offered each week to meet your fitness needs and fit your schedule. You can choose from Zumba, yoga, cardio sculpt and hardcore sculpt, or try them all for a well-rounded regimen. The schedule is:

  • Monday, 5:15-6 p.m. – Zumba
  • Tuesday, 1-1:45 p.m. – Yoga
  • Wednesday, 5:15-6 p.m. – Cardio Sculpt
  • Thursday, 1 p.m.-1:45 p.m. – Hardcore Sculpt

New campus policies encourage a healthy work-life balance and allow managers to provide schedule flexibly to employees participating in physical activity and UM wellness programs. Check out the new policies.

“Group fitness is a great way to stay on track with exercising,” said Andrea Jekabsons, UM assistant director of employment and training and project manager for RebelWell. “There is a fun and social aspect to it. Also, the variety of the classes helps with the monotony of some programs. We heard that it may be odd attending a class with one of your students or intimidating to exercise with possibly a much younger group, so employee-only (faculty and staff) classes are available, along with the many, many campus recreation group fitness opportunities.”

So what are you waiting for? Pick up a semester pass at the Turner Center to participate. Classes are free for Turner Center members, and those who are not members can purchase a $20 semester pass at the fitness center.

All classes are held in the brand-new Studio 125 on the first floor of the Turner Center. For questions or schedule updates, call 662-915-5591 or visit the Campus Recreation website.
