UM professor Kiese Laymon has seen his book ‘Heavy: An American Memoir’ gain national acclaim over the past few months. The memoir, focusing on Laymon’s upbringing in Jackson, has been honored with the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction by the American Library Association.
