OXFORD, Miss – The Lafayette-Oxford-University Symphony is set to perform works from a variety of cultures Wednesday (March 10) in the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts.

Tickets for the 8 p.m. concert are $10 for general admission and $6 for students with a valid ID. They can be purchased at the UM Box Office in the Student Union or by calling 662-915-7411.
The orchestra will open with the overture from the opera “The Force of Destiny” by Guiseppe Verdi and conclude with “El Amor Brujo,” a ballet by Manuel de Falla. Other pieces will feature arias and duets by faculty members Bradley and Jennifer Robinson.

“We’re very excited to have Dr. and Mrs. Robinson sing,” said Ronald Vernon, associate dean of liberal arts and professor of music. “They’re impressive.”

The diversity of the performances should keep the audience entertained, he said. “They’ll hear an interesting variety from many countries with many styles.”
