OXFORD, Miss. – Oxford residents can play golf while supporting health at a Men’s Wellness Fair, set for 7:30-10:30 a.m. June 24 at the Ole Miss Golf Course.
The course will provide a free cart with a paid round of golf and discounts on walking rounds for those attending the fair. The course will also offer other golf giveaways and door prizes for men. The event is co-sponsored by Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in recognition of Men’s Health Awareness Month.
“We are providing our facility in order to partner with the community and people who are interested in health to help promote men’s health,” said Gerald Barron, manager of the Ole Miss Pro Shop. “We’ve already had a pretty good response, and it should be a good time.”
Baptist Hospital will provide health screenings for men. Blood work, which includes a full lipids profile, is $20 and PSA level screening is $25. Other exams, such as blood pressure, weight, height and more, are free.
“We hope all men, young and old, will come out to celebrate Men’s Health Month,” says Melinda Gordon of Baptist Hospital. “It’s really going to be a fun event.”
