JONESBORO, Ark. – Ole Miss athletes won five events and posted some of the Championships best times of the season during the A-State Red Wolves Open, which wrapped up on Saturday.

Despite resting several of the usual headline athletes this weekend, the No. 11 nationally ranked Rebel men still received strong performances from several members.

Freshman Jalen Miller once again burned the track in the 100 and 200 meters. He placed runner-up in both events to former Rebel and Olympian Isiah Young (running unattached). Miller equaled his personal best of 10.24 in the 100 and ran 21.02 in the 200 as the top collegiate finisher.

Long jumpers Malcolm Davis and Phillip Young placed third and fourth, respectively. Davis reached a distance of 24-4.5 (just off his outdoor PR of 24-7.75), while Young posted a mark of 24-0.25.

In the men’s discus, redshirt-freshman Kevin Conway recorded a personal-best throw of 170-3 that ranks him fifth in the school record books.

The Ole Miss men had victories in four events over the weekend: Will Spiers in the 1,500 meters (4:00.95), Robert Semien in the 110-meter hurdles (14.19), the 4×400-meter relay (3:11.84) and Nathan Loe in the hammer throw (209-7).

The women got a victory from Margaret Harkness in the 1,500 meters (4:45.77) on Saturday.

Another highlight for the women was freshman Callie Watson in the pole vault. She cleared a personal-best 12-0.5, becoming the third woman in program history to reach 12 feet.

The Rebels will travel to Baton Rouge, La., for the LSU Invitational next Saturday. It will be the final meet before the SEC Championships (May 15-18 in Lexington, Ky.).
