Longtime Faculty Member Recognized for Contributions to Professional Fraternity

OXFORD,
Miss. – Longtime University of Mississippi professor of pharmacy
administration Dewey D. Garner has been recognized by Kappa Psi
Pharmaceutical Fraternity for his service to the pharmacy profession.

Garner
was presented the A. Richard Bliss Grand Council Citation of
Appreciation by the professional fraternity earlier this month in San
Antonio. The citation is designed to be presented publicly as a form of
superior recognition for extraordinary contributions to the profession.
It was established in 1988 to honor Bliss, a pharmacist, physician and
educator.

“I am deeply honored to receive Kappa Psi’s highest award,” said the Raleigh native. “This is a signal moment in my professional career.”

A School of Pharmacy faculty member for more than 40 years, Garner is a member of the American Pharmacists Association, the National Community Pharmacists Association, the Professional Fraternity Association, Kappa Psi Professional Fraternity, Phi Kappa Phi International Honor Society, Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society and Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society.

As member of Kappa Psi, he has held nearly every national office, served as a member of nearly every national committee and served as the faculty adviser to the Beta Rho (UM) chapter from 1971 to 2008.

Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity is the oldest and largest professional pharmacy fraternity in the world. There are 73 active collegiate and 54 active graduate chapters across the United States and Canada, with more than 70,000 members.
