OXFORD, Miss. – After clearing a world-leading height of 7-7.25 in the high jump last weekend at the Pepsi Florida Relays, Ole Miss junior All-American Ricky Robertson was added to The Bowerman Watch List by the award’s committee on Wednesday.
Robertson is the first man from Ole Miss to be named to the award’s watch list since the process began three years ago. The Hernando, Miss., native not only leads the NCAA in the high jump, he also ranks fifth nationally in the triple jump. He has won five straight SEC titles in the high jump (three indoor, two outdoor) and has been named an All-American five times.
Along with Robertson, three other athletes from the Southeastern Conference made the watch list – Jeff Demps (Florida), Andrew Irwin (Arkansas) and Tony McQuay (Florida).
Ole Miss fans can watch Robertson and the No. 12-ranked Rebel men, along with the women, compete this Saturday at the Mississippi Open in Oxford. It is the final home meet of the season. Admission is free.</p>
