Staff Members Awarded for Service

OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Mississippi staff council awards, presented May 17, recognized various staff members for their hard work and dedication.

Shelia Goolsby, administrative coordinator at the Counseling Center, was the Overall Award winner.

“Shelia has a passion for her position and a strong desire to serve the students in need of counseling services,” Chancellor Dan Jones said.

Leslie Banahan, assistant vice chancellor for student affairs, won EEO-1 for Executive, Administrative and Managerial.

“She is described as talented, compassionate, practical, intuitive, visionary, dedicated and always open to new ideas or ways,” Jones said.

Rebecca Lauck Cleary, a communications specialist for University Communications, won EEO-3: Professional Non-faculty.

“She came to the university in 2005, and has, through the years, gained the skills and confidence to be a leader in her area,” Jones said. “She is truly a professional, as witnessed by all those at the university who have the privilege of partnering with her.”

Casey Stauber, staff assistant in the Department of Pharmacognosy, won for EEO-4: Secretarial/Clerical.

“I started tearing up because it’s such an incredible honor, especially because this award came from my peers,” said Stauber, who has worked at UM since 2003.

Jeffery Anthony Hubbard, network administrator for the School of Engineering, won EEO-5 for Technical/Paraprofessional services.

Jones referred to him as “a true team player.”

Rufus Clyde “Rusty” Tubbs III, who joined UM in 2010, won EEO-6 for Skilled Crafts.

Deloris  “Pete” Thompson, custodial supervisor, won for EEO-7: Service Maintenance.
