“Tina Packer’s Women of Will” features the Master Shakespearean actress deconstructing the Bard’s most famous female characters in a critically acclaimed performance that comes to the University of Mississippi’s Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts for one show April 14.
The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $17 for general admission seating on the mezzanine, balcony and box tier 2 levels and $25 for the orchestra, parterre and box tier 1 levels. Tickets can be purchased at the UM Box Office in the Ole Miss Student Union or online at http://www.fordcenter.org/.
This performance is considered an extra addition of content to Shakespeare’s plays and explores the evolution of his female characters through themes of love, loss, freedom, violence and power. Packer delivers this as part master class, part performance in a way that critics call “funny, fierce and deep.”
“‘Tina Packer’s Women of Will’ is a great addition to our monthlong Shakespeare celebration and promises to be an entertaining and enlightening evening,” said Julia Aubrey, Ford Center interim director.
“The highlight in April is the exhibition of one of Shakespeare’s First Folios on display in our Studio Theatre. Don’t miss this riveting live performance and the opportunity to view the book that gave us Shakespeare.”
