University of Mississippi senior Samira Abunemeh of Philadelphia stands amid the remains of an ancient Roman building in the city of Umm Qais (modern Gadara) in northern Jordan. Since early June, she has been studying the Arabic language at Yarmouk University in Irbid, Jordan and taking an occasional sightseeing trip around the country. She plans to return home when her classes end in mid-December.
