Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority members visit with children in the Oxford-Lafayette community.
OXFORD, Miss. – The Theta Psi chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. collected backpacks, school supplies and donations to help provide for local children who are in need.
The sorority hosted a Back-to-School drive Sept. 4 on campus to collect items that children in the Oxford-Lafayette community need. After filling 106 backpacks with school supplies, they handed the backpacks out at the Boys and Girls Club of Oxford.
The sorority also was able to give an additional 125 backpacks away at the sorority’s annual Undergraduate Roundup conference. Along with collecting backpacks and school supplies, the sorority raised more than $300 to support other school-related projects.
