University Hosts SEC Pharmacy Deans’ Meeting

OXFORD, Miss. – Deans from pharmacy schools across the Southeastern Conference will gather Jan. 30-31 at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy to discuss issues and opportunities in pharmacy education.

Among the topics slated for discussion are educational metrics, sharing educational resources, course consortiums and funding for pharmacy education. Ten of the conference’s 14 universities have pharmacy schools.

The SEC deans hope to meet annually to continue sharing knowledge and helping maintain a robust pharmacy education system in the region.

“This meeting is a wonderful opportunity to hear from one another about the challenges and triumphs of educating young pharmacists,” said David D. Allen, dean of the UM School of Pharmacy. “Our primary goal is to find ways to improve the future of our profession.”
