OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Mississippi is hosting a one-day conference to help build effective leaders across north Mississippi. The Leadercast event is set for June 18 at the university’s Jackson Avenue Center.
The goal of the event is to build leaders worth following. The theme for this year’s conference is “Beyond You,” which challenges leaders to leverage their own influence for the sake of others.
“It really is a moving, feel-good day with lots of good leadership and professional nuggets,” said Andrea Jekabsons, UM assistant director of employment and training.
Special guests Michael Thompson, the university’s senior associate athletics director, and Jeff McManus, director of landscape services, will speak live at the event.
The day includes rebroadcasts of internationally known speakers former first lady Laura Bush, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a Nobel laureate and human rights activist; Randall Wallace, a screenwriter, director and producer; and Bill McDermott, CEO of SAP AG, among others. The live version of Leadercast took place in Atlanta.
Anyone is welcome to attend this conference, but leaders from the Lafayette-Oxford-University community are strongly encouraged to attend.
The registration fee is $75 for UM employees and $95 for all others. The event runs 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Space is limited and registration is required to attend. To register, go to http://www.outreach.olemiss.edu/leadercast/.
