Wahl Named Preseason All-America By Perfect Game

Junior Will Anchor Weekend Rotation For Second Straight Year

OXFORD, Miss. – Junior right-hander Bobby Wahl has been named a preseason All-America selection by Perfect Game, the organization announced on Monday with the release of its annual preseason honors. Wahl was named a second team selection by Perfect Game.

The junior returns for his third season with the Rebels and will anchor the weekend rotation for Ole Miss after serving as the Friday night starter a year ago.

As a sophomore, Wahl earned All-SEC second team honors as he helped lead the Rebels to an NCAA Regional for the 10th time in the last 12 seasons and a berth in an NCAA Regional Championship for the sixth time in the last eight years.

Wahl posted a 7-4 record in 2012 with a 2.55 ERA through a team-leading 99.0 innings of work and 17 starts. He held opponents to a .211 batting average against and posted 104 strikeouts while walking only 32 and combined for three shutouts, including shutout wins over UNC-Wilmington, Houston and No. 1 Florida to help lead the Rebels to a series sweep of the top-ranked Gators.

He finished in the top 10 in the Southeastern Conference in five categories, including ERA, Opponent Batting Average, Strikeouts, Innings Pitched and Games Started.

Wahl and the Rebels will take the field to open the 2013 campaign on Friday, February 15 against the TCU Horned Frogs at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. The Diamond Rebels begin practice for the 2013 season this Friday at Swayze Field.
