Wiggins Invited To WBCA Center For Coaching Excellence Session

Wiggins Will Join 30 Other Coaches In The Session

OXFORD, Miss. – First-year head women’s basketball coach Adrian Wiggins has been selected as one of 30 coaches to attend the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s (WBCA) fourth session of the Center for Coaching Excellence, held today through Wednesday on the campus of Columbia University in New York.

The CCE, a joint project of Columbia and the WBCA, is an invitation-only, elite leadership program. The inaugural two sessions were held in May and June 2011. To date, 85 college women’s basketball coaches have completed the two-and-a-half day curriculum.

“The Center for Coaching Excellence is a tremendous honor and opportunity not only for me professionally but for Ole Miss women’s basketball,” Wiggins said.  “It’s a chance for us to grow and be in a national spotlight. They only invite two sessions with the top 30 coaches that they pick as far as developing leadership skills and really trying to influence the game of women’s basketball. We are going to be around some really high-quality leaders that are going to teach us about leadership skills and I’m extremely excited about it.”

Capitalizing on the resources of Columbia University, one of the world’s leading research universities, and the WBCA, the CCE provides an unparalleled, exclusive learning experience for college women’s basketball coaches. Utilizing collaborative and interactive learning sessions and panel discussions featuring experts in college athletics and women’s basketball, the CCE provides college women’s basketball coaches with valuable networking opportunities with their peers and top industry leaders.

The first session for this year was held at Columbia May 21-23.
