Program uses accountability to help teammates to stick together through challenge

RebelFit 40-day Challenge

OXFORD, Miss. – University of Mississippi students, faculty and staff are encouraged to team up to get into shape during the RebelFit 40-day challenge.

RebelFit, a 40-day fitness challenge based on the premise of accountability, encouraging teammates to stick together through the entire challenge, begins Monday (Sept. 30). Teams can include three to five members and can be a combination of students, faculty and staff. Registration is $5 per team.

“The goal of RebelFit is to educate and help you create a habit of healthy lifestyle,” said Nicole Dudley, a master’s student in the parks and recreation management program, a graduate assistant at Campus Recreation and facilitator of the challenge.

While the program is designed around teams, each team member is responsible for earning points for their team. Points can be earned by working out, attending special events and competing in challenges. One point is awarded for every 15 minutes of exercise, with a maximum of three points daily, although participants are encouraged to exercise as much as they feel comfortable.

At the end of the 40-day challenge, points will be totaled and the top three teams in each category of faculty, staff, students and combination of the three will be awarded prizes.

The overall aim, Dudley said simply, is “40 days, 1 goal, RebelFit.”
